Woofgang & Co. was featured this month on WICC-AM 600's "Community Inspiration" segment with Melissa and Tony. We loved having the opportunity to talk with Melissa about why young adults with disabilities need more job opportunities. And we greatly appreciated the chance to promote our products and the skills training we provide to our Team Members. Pull up a chair, grab a cool drink, and take a listen. Thanks, Melissa Shekatoff, for your encouragement and support
Woofgang & Co. was honored to participate in Catherine's Butterfly Party on June 8th in Newtown. Hosted by the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation as a tribute to a young girl killed at Sandy Hook Elementary, this beautiful event focuses on kindness, compassion and love to one another. Catherine had a wonderful love of animals, so the day was filled with two- and four-footed friends of all shapes and sizes. A great opportunity Woofgang & Co. to make new friends, support a terrific organization, practice our excellent customer service and social skills, and spread awareness of our mission. Shine on!
On May 19th, Woofgang & Co. participated in the very successful Westport Dog Festival. Thousands of people and their dogs came to celebrate the beautiful weather and their four-footed friends. This was an everything dog-related fair, so we definitely enjoyed it! The dogs loved our treats, which helped us bring awareness to our store and mission to the local and tri-state area.
We also visited Westport earlier this spring for the 8th annual Maker Fair on April 27th. We were inspired by the work of other participating creators and shared our mission with a lot of new people from the community. What a great event!
Our new 10 oz. carton has hit the store shelf! The new package features a wonderful photo of Team Woofgang, plus more treats per purchase! We're sure customers and canines alike will enjoy it. Plus, it's more cost effective for us to produce, which helps us build our cause.
Team Woofgang was "freezin' for a reason" on Saturday, April 6, at Fairfield Beach -- to participate in the Penguin Plunge for Special Olympics. Funds raised also go to support local nonprofits like Woofgang & Co. Woofgang workers, many of whom compete in Special Olympics, gathered with friends and families (along with a few four footed friends) to brave the chill and were rewarded with cheers, love and news coverage on Channel 12. The fun-filled event was a great way for our team to support a cause so special to us, and to raise money for Woofgang & Co. at the same time. It was extremely successful and will no doubt continue next year. Let's hope the sunshine does, too!
On Thursday, April 5, students at Fairfield University gathered to support Woofgang & Co. through a second annual BINGO Night on campus. Festivities were coordinated by FU's very own Emily Halderson, who gathered friends, team mates, administrators and Woofgang team members and supporters to play numerous rounds of Bingo for fun and prizes. It was a wonderful night of competition and comradery, and raised more than $1,000 for our nonprofit. Thank you to everyone who played and participated, including the many community businesses that contributed gift cards and other prizes. What a special night indeed!
Woofgang team members Becca K., Chris L. and Andrew B. visited fourth grade students at Greens Farms Academy on March 25 to share their perspectives on living life with a disability and how we're all more alike than different. The students had been learning about disabilities through books and other coursework, and teachers invited our young adults to visit and lead small group discussions on various topics related to personal strengths and struggles. Everyone shared their feelings on the importance of including people and practicing kindness. It was a wonderful day for all involved. Thank you to everyone at GFA for involving Team Woofgang in this important unit of study. And congratulations to Andrew, Becca and Chris for representing themselves and our organization so well. Great job!
Lovers of all things Irish celebrated at Woofgang & Co. on Saturday, March 16th, with a festive "St. Paw-trick's Day" party, complete with a visit from our favorite Irish Wolfhound and #1 customer, Murphy, and his family! Team members donned their green and toasted guests with refreshments from special supporters, Billy's Bakery and Fairfield Craft Ales. Entertainment was provided by some very talented and beautiful Irish step dancers, including Woofgang & Co. team member Isabel Shaw. Top of the mornin' and afternoon to all!
Please support Woofgang & Co. on Thursday, February 28, by participating in Fairfield County Giving Day. This is our area's largest online fundraising initiative for local nonprofits and a fast and easy way to help us reach our goals for 2019.
From 6:00am - 11:59pm on February 28, we'd be especially grateful if you can donate a gift of any amount to help us expand our services to more young adults with disabilities and expand into more permanent kitchen and operating space this calendar year. We're getting so close!
If you live in or near Fairfield, please join us for our Giving Day "Yappy Hour" at Crave Bar & Grill from 5:30-7pm to celebrate and honor our wonderful Team Woofgang members, who work hard everyday to achieve their dreams and goals. Special thanks to Tito's Handmade Vodka for sponsoring this fun and festive event.
Come raise a paw for Woofgang!
Flash Pointe Dance Studio of Fairfield honored Woofgang & Co. on Sunday, January 27, at its sixth annual "Fire & Ice" benefit dance performance. Held at Bridgeport's Klein Auditorium, the event drew dance lovers of all ages to enjoy an afternoon of talent and support local charities chosen by the studio. Woofgang & Co. was so pleased to be selected as one of this year's two beneficiaries. Several of our team members (pictured above) also attended the event, and a wonderful time was had by all!
A raffle and live auction generated thousands of dollars in proceeds, a portion of which will be donated to Woofgang & Co. We are truly grateful to Flash Pointe Studio Director Victoria Carey, her delightful and amazing dancers, their families and the incredible Flash Pointe Studio instructors for their tremendous support of our mission and organization.
